Driving the School Bus
School Bus drivers have an important job to handle. They are the people who are responsible for safe passage and journey of the children to their schools and back home. School Bus drivers need to be a really responsible and experienced driver as they have to take care of not only the children traveling in their bus but also the people around. Talking of the school bus drivers these days, some drivers drive really rash. Speedy drivers and rash overtaking have become the most luring part for such drivers, irrespective of the fact that they transport so many children. A school bus driver should be very particular about the sharp turns, speed bumps and other people moving on and off the road. At some places, these bus drivers are awfully careless. For being assigned a School bus driver, the person needs to be an experienced and consistent driver.

Rules and Regulations for a School Bus Driver

Federal regulations of any state have made it obligatory that before appointing any driver, the person should be familiar with the current traffic rules and regulations. If the person is not acquainted with the guidelines, he should be trained well. The foremost requirement is that the driver should ensure safety of all the students, so a driver should keep in mind the safety factor while driving. Before a license is issued to the school bus driver, his background is to be checked by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Department. As per the laws, a school bus driver should be more trained in comparison to any other driver and his first priority should be to ensure the safety of children. Apart from this, the drivers are also given ''Behind the Wheel Training'' and it is an important part of the instructions.

When a license is issued to the school bus driver he should always keep a First Aid Card and a Transportation Medical Certificate along with him. There are a few tests that are conducted in order to guide the school bus drivers with all the essential information. These tests include first aid test and drug & alcohol test, to name a few. These tests are organized time and again, so that school bus drivers are updated with all the driving and safety strategies, regularly. Not only this, but it is must for a school bus driver to maintain a clean record for his driving for some safety reasons. In the case where a driver does not have a clean record, his license can be cancelled by the government.

School Bus Drivers

A school bus driver has to pick up the students from their bus stops and drop them at the school within a regular scheduled time period. Such drivers do not require going for long routes, as all the students generally need to be picked from the neighborhood locations only. Usually, these bus drivers have to follow the same route, so chances of heavy traffic is very low. However, in case there is a heavy traffic they should keep in mind all the rules and regulations that they had followed before the license was issued to them. At times, a school bus driver might also need to carry students and teachers to trips and many other events. At such occasions, it is necessary for a driver to keep the speed and safety factors in mind. A school bus driver should be very alert to keep away from accidents, especially in case of bad weather and heavy traffic. These drivers should be very careful when they pick and drop children and children get on or off from bus. If there are disabled children in the bus, a driver should be educated to take care of them and fulfill their needs.

How should a School Bus Driver drive?

In case of heavy traffic, a driver may feel fatigued and weary and due to this reason he needs to be very particular about the traffic. However, overtaking the traffic is a risky job, especially when a driver has children along with him, but if it is required to overtake, he should be very careful and should not speed up just to pass the traffic. In case of speed bumps, the bus should be slowed down and move at the minimal speed. If the bus does not slow down at the speed bumps there are chances for the bus to tilt down and it might also cause an accident. In such cases people moving on and off the road could be also hurt badly. So a school bus driver should decelerate at the speed bumps. Some drivers are also in a habit of running red traffic lights. Traffic Lights are made available for people so that they won't get in an accident. Not just this, there are numerous bus drivers who have been reported for driving with drugs. This is completely against the law and of course very dangerous and it can lead to a severe accident.

School Bus Driver Jobs

School Bus Driving is the most conscientious job that should be done with utmost alertness. A single sharp turn can cause so many causalities. There are numerous jobs available for school bus drivers. The best part is that these drivers have to follow the same route everyday and work only when the schools are in session. Numerous bus drivers even work as janitors and office boys after the normal school hours, in the school itself, as the time of picking and dropping the students is confined to a particular time in morning as well as afternoon.

So, keep in mind all the important guidelines and opt for such attractive driver opportunities.
