Route Jobs
A route truck driving job entails transporting and delivering goods across local routes. Route drivers may also prospect new clients along their routes or may reroute and adjust their journey to meet customer needs.
The main responsibility of a route driver is to ensure a high level of customer service and delivery by processing product returns, credits and other customer requirements. Other duties include completing documentation and assisting the customer with necessary paperwork, handling general customer problems and serving as liaison between company and customer, operating vehicle in accordance with DOT, state and federal regulations and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspection and mainainence of truck.
For a route driver job, a high school diploma or a G.E.D is preferred. The minimum age requirement generally varies between 21-25 years. A candidate must also possess a valid CDL and a good driving record. Prior route-based commercial driving experience is desirable. Good communication and customer service skills are also advantageous.
