Truck Driver Jobs
A truck driver job entails driving a truck to transport a variety of goods between home terminal and specified destinations. A truck driver is responsible for pick-up and delivery of goods and maintaining appropriate documentation of the same.
Other important duties of a truck driver include inspecting the truck and all auxiliary equipment, loading and unloading certain materials and coordinating the loading and unloading of oversized materials, maintaining accurate travel and cargo logs, communicating regularly with dispatcher to ensure timely delivery, ensuring compliance with state/federal laws and regulations, refueling the vehicle as needed, keeping the vehicle clean and serviced and safely performing all other essential functions.
For a truck driving job, a high school diploma or a G.E.D is preferred. Minimum age requirement generally varies between 21-25 years. A candidate must possess a valid CDL. Previous truck driving experience and a good driving record are important. A candidate should also be able to pass a drug/alcohol and background check.
