Total Gas Management Technician/Back Up CDL Driver (El Paso, TX)','22166','!*!JOB SUMMARY:

The Total Gas Management Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Customer’s Supply Chain Solutions Model to include packaged gas deliveries and management programs, establishing safe handling practices, efficient order processing & invoicing, initiating & executing cost reduction programs, reporting and day-to-day customer interface at the customer sites. The Site Technician will be the first line Airgas representative with the customer for all packaged gases, welding hardgoods and safety supplies related issues.


Safely deliver to stocking locations

Clean and organize customer storage location(s)

Manage branch cylinder operation through SOP

Order all product as needed and adjust min/max inventory levels as necessary

Interface with Customer Service and inform them of changes, additions or deletions to delivery points or orders

Provide customer Technical Support for gas and gas delivery equipment

Maintain load manifests and all other vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.

Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.

Maintenance and upkeep of onsite vehicles

Maintain appropriate drivers’ license.

Other duties and projects as assigned

Prepare customer review documentation

Maintain customer operation manuals

Streamline and manage ordering process

Streamline and manage error resolution process

Prepare “single monthly invoice” for a location

Manager eCommerce and EDI/EFT Implementation

Provide reports for regulatory agencies

Provide reports for accounting/auditing

Provide internal cost allocation reports

Cylinder Barcode tracking

Other duties may be assigned


Drives truck to deliver gasses and hard goods to customer's place of business.  Issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.

Makes deliveries outside of regular route to provide customers with product.  Issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.  Collects empty cylinders or rejected or unsold merchandise.  Loads truck.

Collects money from customers, makes change and records transactions on customer receipt.

Writes customer order and instructions.  Records sales or deliveries information on daily sales for delivery record.

Listens to and resolves service complaints.  Gives feedback to supervisor about customer complaints and requirements.

Cleans inside of truck. Performs routine maintenance checks on truck.

Complies with all company policies, safety policies and procedures and DOT requirements.

Works safely and meets the requirements of all safety procedures and rules as prescribed by State, Federal, and the Company.','!*!

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in handling compressed gases and basic knowledge of experience in welding preferred.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and record information. 

Ability to speak effectively before customers or associates.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percent. 


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Must possess valid CDL class A or B (depending on site-specific equipment requirements) with hazardous material and air brakes endorsements.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit while making deliveries; use hands to finger, handle, or feel while making deliveries; reach with hands and arms; talk to or hear customers; and smell leaking gas from cylinders.  The associate is occasionally required to climb or balance.  Able to use hands and/or tools to hook up and disconnect cylinders.  Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion also required.  Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees.  The associate must regularly lift up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
