Under close supervision, must be willing and able to perform the least difficult electrical and mechanical tasks involved in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of transmission and distribution substations, transformer racks, transformer vaults, underground systems and other equipment, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned:
*Construct complete foundations for structures and equipment, including building and placing of forms, placing of conduits, reinforcing steel, concrete work, anchors, etc. *Install all types of conduit systems *Handle, move and install all transmission, distribution and plant equipment, machinery, etc., set in place and tie down *Test and filter oil *Erect wood and steel structures, including foundations *Trim trees *Work on energized conductors, circuits and busses up to 500 volts *Assist qualified mechanic, lineman or others in working on energized conductors *Assist qualified work man in the more complex routine inspections and maintenance *Assist qualified work man in repairs to transformers, oil circuit breakers, regulators, etc. *Operate Company's vehicles and equipment. *Assist storm restoration in substations and other groups *Operate computers and computer applications for testing substation equipment
EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
*Should have Basic Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical circuits and equipment *Substation Mechanic 4th Class:
*Be willing and able to perform all duties of Substation Apprentice *Must have worked for at least one year, and qualified, as a Helper -Transmission & Distribution Dept., or have equivalent experience in related work having all the qualifications of the previous classifications
*Substation Mechanic 3rd Class: at least 2 years of relevant experience *Substation Mechanic 2nd Class: at least 3 years of relevant experience *Substation Mechanic 1st Class: at least 4 years of relevant experience *Know Company's safety rules, and be willing and able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be willing and able to render practical first aid on or off the ground *Know the location of, and be willing and able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires *Maintain a current Class A CDL license or be willing and able to obtain one within a specified time period *Know Company's electrical and mechanical tagging, testing and grounding rules *Obtain a TWIC card as needed along with required industrial plant entrance testing/training. *Maintain switching and clearance certification and early mandated training
Must be willing and able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, to include but not limited to:
