We are also working to secure vaccine availability for our Team Members.\u00A0\u00A0Summary of Opening:\u00A0The chick driver is responsible for picking up chicks from the hatchery and delivering them to the farms each day. The driver is responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections as well as forklift inspections. The driver is responsible for loading the trailer with stacks of chicks on pallets. Each pallet could contain from 8 to 15 boxes of chicks per pallet with a maximum of 9 pallets per trailer. The driver will safely deliver the chicks to a farm and help unload them on site using the forklift. Once all chicks have been unloaded, the driver will take the empty chick boxes and deliver them back to the hatchery to be cleaned. The driver will unload the pallets and push them in the processing room for the sanitation crew to wash. After the boxes have been dropped off, the driver repeats these steps after retrieving new boxes of chicks. The driver will haul approximately 2 or 3 loads a day.Typical schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday starting around 6am until done hauling designated loads. Typically, a 10 to 12-hour work day.Works occasional Wednesdays for driver meetings and deep cleaning trailers.Work all holidays that fall on weekdays except for Christmas. Starting hourly rate is $24.60\u00A0The individual selected for this position will be responsible for driving a truck from the hatchery to and from various grower\u2019s farms throughout the area delivering newly hatched chicks for grow out.\u00A0 This positions importance lies in the fact that this person must make sure chicks are delivered on a timely basis and are correctly placed in the grower's houses to help insure a good start.\u00A0 Successful applicants will also realize that they are representing Pilgrim\u2019s Pride Corporation whenever they are driving a company vehicle, making sure to always follow the rules of the road.\u00A0Description of Duties/Qualifications: Must have successfully completed the probationary/trial period. Must have excellent attendance habits. Must have no other disciplinary write-ups within the past 90 days. Will load trucks at hatchery, deliver chicks to farms, return empty carriers to hatchery and wash chick carriers after return to hatchery. The nature of the position is very physical. Must be able to drive large trucks in all types of weather and have the ability to chain wheels, if needed. Must be able to lift/push 100 lbs. Must have a valid CDL Class A license, a good driving record, a drug-free record and must pass a DOT physical. Vision correctable to 20/20. Must possess good decision making ability. As trucks are heated for chick transport, some mechanical abilities in this area would be preferred if repairs to the vehicle were needed while in transit. May also be required to do other Hatchery related jobs. Good work ethics and able to work as a team with other drivers and Hatchery employees. Able to work in hot and dusty environments. Normal work days Monday \u2013 Tuesday, Thursday \u2013Friday \u2013 work any scheduled holidays. Sometimes we do work Saturdays if needed. Start times vary with seasons, normal start times are 5:30 to 7:30 am and finish work by 6:30 pm.\u00A0\u00A0EXPECTATIONS \u2013\u00A0all Team Members\u00B7Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.\u00B7Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.\u00B7Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies such as Six Sigma.\u00A0KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES\u00B7Working knowledge of driving and traffic rules.\u00A0\u00B7Appropriate skill to drive a truck safely\u00B7Ability to follow both written and verbal directions\u00B7Ability to communicate effectively with others in a manner that maintains harmony with co-workers\u00B7Considerable ability to lift up to 50 pounds.\u00B7Considerable ability to work under dusty adverse conditions.\u00B7Valid Class A Driver\u2019s license and acceptable driving record according to Company Policy 622 required, (Possession of single, valid operator\u2019s license with appropriate vehicle classification for operators state of residence; no incident in prior 36 months in which the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs; no incident in prior 36 months of reckless/careless driving; no major driving violations), for Lockout/Tag out safety as well as other company safety programs and policies.\u00B7Valid Pilgrim\u2019s Forklift license or ability to obtain license within 30 days\u00B7\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0 Must be able to operate a manual CMV EOE/Vet/Disabled\u00A0
